Nanyang Polytechnic, School of Business Management, Teaching Enterprise Programme (TEP) celebrates Friendship Day on 13 July 2011 - a day dedicated to honour the beautiful relationship of friendship. More than 410 students and staff visited the Friendship Booth set up by the Event Management and Roadshow (EMRS) Team.
Students and staff dedicated songs and wrote heartfelt messages on the giant greeting board for their friends. Some of the touching songs dedicated included I’m Yours by Jason Mraz, Rolling in the Deep by Adele. What caught my eye on the giant greeting board was a quotation written by anonymous saying, “A True Friend Is Someone Who Sees the Pain in Your Eyes While Everyone Else Believes the Smile on Your Face.”
A photo booth with a colourful backdrop was set up so that students could take lovely pictures with their friends while wearing the customised friendship bands which were up for grabs. The EMRS team has made more than 410 colourful friendship bands symbolising love at heart. “After days of hard work, the sight of 410 completed friendship bands provides me with a great sense of achievement and I feel that my hard work was all worthwhile” said Lindsey Loh, a member from EMRS Team.
The friendship bands attracted many to visit the booth and captured many hearts. Many students commented on the attractiveness of the friendship bands and showed their appreciation with a word of thanks along with a smile. Gabriel Lim from Accounting Services Centre commented that “it’s cool how TEP celebrates friendship day. Best of all, you get to see your picture taken on Facebook and the friendship bands are for free.”
While it was a challenge to the EMRS Team to execute the Friendship Day Booth event within a short time, our team members felt a great sense of fulfilment and satisfaction. Most importantly, many TEP students gave very positive feedback that the event was successful and memorable. The day was really enjoyable because the air was filled with laughter and joy as seen from the smiles taken in the pictures which were then uploaded on the “TEP celebrates Friendship Day 2011” Facebook page.
This event is definitely a mega hit in bringing about the message of the importance of treasuring our friends and in spreading the existence of Friendship Day amongst TEP students and staffs. Let’s embrace the idea of Friendship Day together not only on this day but in every single day of our lives as well.
