NETSSG YONO FlashPay Card by EMRS Team 3

NETS SG was here in Nanyang Polytechnic's Atrium from the 6 - 8 of May to give out 3000 YONO FlashPay cards to the staff and students. The booth was opened from 10:30AM to 4:30PM for the 3 days.

YONO FlashPay Card and Welcome Kit

YONO, which stands for "You Only Need One", aims to nurture and cultivate the use of cashless payment. It positions the card as fun, cool, inspirational and everything such as youth events. This card offers many benefits such as 1-for-1 Starbucks café latte, 1-for-1 Cathay Cineplexes movie tickets, earning 5% rebates for all cab fares and more. Students could also stand a chance to win a lucky draw prize upon spending a minimum of $5 in any shops that provides Nets FlashPay payment service.

Preparation of the event:
The OICs from Team 3 had a meet up with the client, a few weeks before the actual event. During the meet up,  we were introduced to the functions and the purpose of the card, what kind of expectations the vendors had for the team and what they can help us with. After the meet up, a briefing was held to explain more about the card and what everybody is supposed to do. The A&P and Logistics I/C were also decided during the briefing and we have to come out with an event poster and logistics list. The team also decided on the shift work and arranged the job scopes according to flyer distribution, registration of cards, lucky draw and crowd control. The team also had to coordinate with Team 2, who was planning an I.T. Fair in the same location, to decide where the NETS booth should be placed.

Setting up for the event:

What’s better than starting a new semester?
Starting the new semester with great IT bargains!!!
Introduction
A three day I.T. fair was held at the school atrium from 6th May to 8th May. It featured a range of electronic products and accessories with discounts up to 80%! If you had not been there, then you would have to wait for the next I.T. Fair in campus for an awesome opportunity to purchase great items at a unbelievably good bargain.

Posters by our A&P students!
Planning and Preparation
We started planning for the event two weeks before the actual event date. It was quite a rush but we managed to secure 11 I.T vendors and 3 food vendors, bringing back old favourites and new flavours such as Lao Ban Beancurd, Coolgurt and Charlotte Grace Cupcakes!

And Coolgurt!
2nd - 5th May 2014
On the 2nd, AGVA were the first to come and do a pre-event delivery of their goods.
Aceline, Lomography, LaoBan, AceCom came on the 5th with their products and fixtures to do their set up.
Storing Lomography goods
On the actual day
6th May 2014
It was an early start for all of us.
Our team reported to school at 7am and started setting up the fixtures at about 7:30am. It took us about two hours to finish. As this is our first time executing a major event, we made quite a few mistakes. Each of us were assigned to our specific roles. The girls were responsible for arrangement and setting up of the fixtures according to the layout while the boys did the movement of the fixtures and goods from the storage room to the atrium.

Moving the goods!
Making sure the cable taped down
7th May 2014
We reported at 8:30am and completed set up within an hour, an improvement from the previous day. The layout was modified a little to accommodate some vendors because the speakers were situated too near them. Despite some challenges, sales were higher than the day before.
Re-planning the layout
Setting up as usual on the second day
8th May 2014
On the last day, we reported at the same timing as before and this time, we set up the event within 40 minutes. It was a huge improvement to the previous two days as we became more accustomed, therefore more efficient in moving the fixtures even though there were even more adjustment of the positioning of the booths.
New fans for our vendor
We also have our foreign friends from Philippines who came here on a learning trip. They helped us in hosting the event and making of the A&P posters as we have massive sales on the last day of the fair!
Welcoming our Filipino exchange students
MC-ing isn’t tough for him at all!
Ringing up the sales!

Printing & cutting of the posters for the last day!
Checking out our posters for great deals! :D

[The crowd on the last day of the fair!]
It was a very tiring event for all of us but we gained so much valuable experience from this mega event. From this event, we learnt that communication with the team and the vendors are very important. Critical thinking and foreseeing problems before they occurred are skills that we learnt from this event and from our supervisor. Furthermore we realised that teamwork played a huge part in the execution of the event. Without the team, this event wouldn’t have been accomplished.

MAC came to NYP! By EMRS Team 2

Introduction

What is MAC? If you are thinking about McDonalds or Apple MacBook, then you are wrong! MAC is a manufacturer of cosmetics that was found in 1984 by Frank Toskan(Left) and Frank Angelo(Right).

MAC is a well known cosmetics brand and is sold worldwide. Many may not know that MAC actually means "Makeup Artist Cosmetics". They provide a range of varieties of products for the everyday consumer which includes eye shadows , lipsticks, lip-gloss, foundations, concealer, nail polish, mascara and many more.

As MAC is a well know and popular brand, we are very excited that they are coming to NYP to held this event, specially the ladies in the team! We are also thrill to hear that there will be up to 50% off all products! Girls, prepare your wallet with cash cause... IT'S SHOPPING TIME!! But before that, we need to prepare to set up the events area first!

Preparation - 21st April 2014

One day before the event, our supervisor, Mr Sudesh, brought us down to the atrium where the event will be held to inspect the area. We took note of where all the power sockets are and also estimated where the tables will be placed.

We helped MAC to deposit and sort out the products one day before the event.

The guys are helping out even though they are not familiar with cosmetics!

Our guys are clueless but they still did it! *Clap Clap*

On the day of the event - 22nd April 2014

On the day of the event, EMRS crew reported at 7:30A.M to set up the area. Some of us even woke up at 5A.M! We moved the logistic from logs room to the atrium. Thank god we have macho guys in our team!

Setting up the area~ Morning work out guys!

LET THE SHOPPING BEGIN

Even Lectures came down to support the event!

MAC was glad that the responses was overwhelming.

1 hour before the sales ends!

 LOOK AT THE QUEUE!!

Zhen Hao was happy to see all the girls that came to buy the MAC products! *SMILE*

To end off, IT WAS HUGE SUCCESS!

As this was our first event after joining EMRS for a short 1 week, we were unsure about the program flow and we faced some problems. Though throughout the event, it was really hectic and busy but we managed to pull through with the help of each other.

What's the best way to learn other than getting first hand experience? Through this event, we learnt how to deal with vendors and train on our critical thinking skills when a problem arises. Other than that, we learnt that we need proper planning for the event to ensure smooth execution. We also learnt to think out of the box in search for ways to market MAC and control the traffic flow. Through this event we actually learnt the way each member work and what are their strong points.

Overall, we learnt lots and will be more prepared for our next event! Cheers EMRS! Lets work hard together!
