Retail Seminar 2014 - Team 3
Date: 3rd December 2014, Wednesday
It was our team's first event, and a major one too. With industry guests and Nanyang Polytechnic Year 2 & 3 students in the Event/Retail specialization attending, we had no room for huge mistakes to happen that day.
With the hand-over notes given to us from the previous Team 3, we were able to start preparing with minimal hiccups involved.
Set-up:
Preparing to paste the industry guests' name tags on the chairs |
We were privileged to have guest speakers from Samsung, SPRING Singapore, Outdoor Venture, Charles & Keith, and Soo Kee Jewellery who came down to Nanyang Polytechnic to give their insights of how it is like working and being part of the retail industry.
Sorting out and pasting the class tags on the sides of the chair |
Bringing the carton of water for Team 3 helpers, to keep us hydrated during the event |
Last preparations before the Retail Seminar starts; taping the spot for the SBM director to stand when presenting the token of appreciation to the guest speakers
Retail Seminar poster |
Rehearsals:
Practising ushering skills for the actual event |
Yan Xing, who is in-charge of AV control, getting ready with the programme lineup for Retail Seminar |
Actual Event (Registration & Ushering):
Last briefing from Ms Quek before we officially begin |
Year 2 & 3 students gathering at the registration booth before being ushered into the Auditorium |
Students being ushered to their allocated seats |
Guests being ushered in by Shi Yin to their seats |
The seminar ended successfully with the last speaker from Soo Kee Jewellery who hyped up the whole auditorium with his interesting and enjoyable presentation. After all the presentations ended, there was a Question & Answer (Q&A) session for the students to ask any burning questions that they had.
Overall, it was a successful event without any major hiccups. Everyone executed their individual roles flawlessly during the event. Without the strong teamwork and hard work we had, and the thorough planning done by the previous team 3, the Retail Seminar would not have been a success. It was a wonderful experience for us Team 3 to be involved in preparing for such a major event.
