Team 2 from
EMRS organised a mini roadshow. It was held opposite the shopping arcade on Tuesday,
9th September 2014 from 10:30 am to 3:30pm. The reason for a mini
roadshow is for us to gain hands-on experience in planning an event from
scratch.
Preparation
The
preparation time for the mini roadshow was slightly over a week. Division of
roles were important to make this event a success. So, we decided on 5 ICs
roles with the remaining members helping out in every aspect. Jocelyn was the Overall
IC, Andy was the A&P IC, Priscilla was the Finance IC, Chenyu was the Inventory
IC and ShuPing was the Logistics IC.
To assist in
formulating ideas for the theme of our event, we made a trip down to MSC to
choose the items that we can sell at our booth. We decided on Sticky, Skin Food
and thumb drives.
The next step
was to decide on the theme. From the idea of a carnival carousel and the
“Carousell” phone application, we came up with the theme of “CarouSale”. We
felt that it was a fun and unique idea.
In order to
make sure that our theme is consistent, we had to discuss about the decorations
and fixtures needed, the display of our products and A&P.

Preparation the day before the event
On the day
of the event
On the day of
the event, we rushed down to the fixtures room to get all the relevant fixtures
in order to be ready before the opening time. Some of us were assigned to
mobile selling while the rest were stationed at the booth. Besides that, we had
two members in charge of taking photos. We received great support from the
lecturers and students and this helped us meet our sales target.

After the
mini roadshow ended, we returned the fixtures and tallied our stocks. Although
this was a tedious process, it was definitely worth it. The event planning was
a long process but we had a great experience when setting up the booth and
selling the products to meet our sales target.
